Houndstooth Mittens

I love that the classic houndstooth pattern is making a comeback again. I originally made a sample in aran and turqouise, but I just couldn't resist making a pair of Houndstooth Mittens in a more classic color combination. Yarn I chose Patons Classic Wool Worsted for my mittens, but you can substitute another worsted weight yarn as long as you're able to meet gauge. You'll need approximately 180 yards for your main color and 100 yards for a contrasting color. These Houndstooth Mittens are an A Crocheted Simplicity original design.

Alabama fan or not, everyone likes houndstooth because it is a classic pattern that looks great with everything. These black and white Crochet Houndstooth Mittens are a great way to add the print into your cold weather wardrobe. However, if you do not like the way mittens constrict your fingers, this free crochet pattern also outlines a way to make fingerless gloves instead.

Maggie's Mittens

This pair of mittens was crocheted as a gift for my Step-Mum, Maggie. The pattern is straight-forward and easy-to-follow. I have also created a full video tutorial to walk you through how to crochet a pair of mittens, from start to finish. I thought it would help those who have never crocheted mittens before, if they could see how they were constructed. You need one ball of Red Heart Super Saver Chunky Yarn - I only used 132 yards (117 m) to crochet the pair of mittens. I hope you enjoy making your mittens!
