This is an awesome pattern if you prefer to work in smaller blocks and join those pieces together for a finished blanket, which I sometimes find easier than working with a lot of stitches at once. This is also a great stash buster project that you can use to work through all the bits of yarn you have leftover.

Building Blocks Baby Blanket

The Building Blocks Baby Blanket is a perfect pattern for playing with color! Use Loops and Threads Colorwheel yarn or your favorite worsted weight yarn to mix and match as many colors as you'd like. This fun play on a classic granny square is called the block stitch, and I have a right and left handed video tutorial to get you started along with the free crochet pattern. This pattern requires at least 450 yards of worsted weight yarn (approx. 90 yards of 5 colors recommended) and an I/5.5mm crochet hook.

Each April, the Craft Yarn Council in conjunction with Warm Up America! invites you to Stitch Away Stress. Crochet, as you know, is such a wonderfully soothing activity. Lemons have become the emblem for this promotion because the first pattern designed for Stitch Away Stress was a cute lemon stress ball!
