"This tote bag is comprised up of floral afghan squares that were inspired by Hydrangeas, and also features a beautiful ribbed pattern. As far as the lining goes, in the past, I have crocheted other tote bags that I chose not to line, and I ended up really disappointed with how much they stretched out, so I made sure with this one that I added a lining to the bag itself, and the strap. I highly recommend if you will be carrying around anything with a little weight. I used Red Heart Super Saver, which is a pretty durable yarn, however, I think a cotton yarn such as Lily Sugar n Cream would have been a better option for something that will keep a lot of use, and dragged around from one place to another. It's that time of year again when I'm ready to break out the cotton yarn and make myself a dozen different crochet bags. After all, one can never have too many bags, especially tote bags! I consider tote bags to be a summer essential… who am I kidding? I use my crochet tote bags all year round. Why do I historically design new tote bags this time of year? Hearts of Love Crochet Tote
This bag is so much fun to make! Great for leftover yarn you don't know what to do with! This pattern uses a simple heart chart and single crochets to make fun and colorful heart squares that are single crocheted together to form the body of the bag. The handles are then added to create this fun happy tote! If you have never worked with charts before, this is a great, easy chart to get started on. This pattern uses a hook size G and 100% cotton yarn, I used Lilys Sugar N' Cream. This bag can also be made with medium worsted weight yarn. The bag measures 15″ X 15″ with a 8.5″ strap drop. Each heart square is 5″ X 5″.
