Like a ruana, an open front poncho that originated in the Colombian and Venezuelan Andes region and is distinguished by the large open slit along the front down to the hem, this cape is worn draped over the shoulders and is open on the sides.

(bust measurements 32” to 55” The sample is made with Paintbox yarns Cotton DK, which is a weight 3 DK cotton yarn. Some suitable substitutes are Lion Brand Coboo or Comfy Cotton, Knit Picks Cotlin, and Novita Cotton Soft. Any weight 3 yarn would work for this project, but I think cotton is preferable to acrylic or wool since it is a summer item."
