The V-stitch rainbow of this crochet blanket pattern gives this project a zig-zag stripe that is visually stunning but still easy to tackle. The easy crochet afghan pattern has all sorts of textures going on, from the ribbed rows to the clean and tidy edges. The gray background is also a nice reinterpretation of the typical brightness of a rainbow pattern, making it a subdued and classy option for any baby. No-Brainer Granny Square Blanket

This is a great blanket/ afghan. Uses Stylecraft DK and 4 mm hook, but any yarn could be used as a great stash buster. You'll need 10 colours, 9 for the actual squares and 1 for joining them together - my personal rule was no white. Joined using the continuous join method. The order of the colours was released weekly on my blog - to have a blanket in 13 weeks - you could make more squares weekly to make the project quicker.
