Cacti are happy, bright, summery, and fun - so Crochet Cactus Potholders are perfect for your kitchen! These thick squishy crocheted hot pads make great trivets too! The key to the Crochet Cactus Potholders is to use 100% cotton yarn - Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie! With cotton yarn, you can use these Cacti with hot dishes without worrying about melting your project on your next hot dish. The Crochet Cactus Potholders are a set - there's a tall cactus and a ball cactus, both kitchen ready. But they aren’t limited to being just potholders! The tall cactus also would make a great oven mitt if you sew two of them together. And the Ball Cactus would be super cute under a real flower pot! However you use them, they are sure to brighten up your table.
It's holiday season, which means a lot of us are going to be spending more time in the kitchen. Cooking up feasts and helping the family prepare for guests. So, in the spirit of the season, I've stitched up an Oven Mitt Set. It's perfect for baking pies or roasting a turkey. The set has a pattern for a pot holder and an oven mitt worked in a half double crochet V stitch. I made mine using a Berroco Pima yarn which is 100% cotton. It's a 4 ply yarn which adds extra cushion (perfect for an oven mitt) and it's soft and luxurious too.
Based on a quilter’s block pattern, create a colorful dish scrubby that combines cotton and textured yarn for a multi purpose cleaning. Each dish scrubby consists of 4 motifs that are joined together to create a quilt-like block pattern. The four motifs are fun to rearrange to create a multiple of block patterns. Step by step YouTube video available. Dish cloth is 5 3/4” x 5 3/4” and calls for one skein of Red Heart Scrubby and Red Heart Scrubby Smoothie yarn.
I love being able to make things for specific needs. Recently I decided a hanging towel would work perfectly in our trailer bathroom. The only problem is there is a hook and not a bar to wrap a tabbed cloth around. I finished the top off with a D ring instead and it is just right. Of course I needed some cloths to match. I whipped up this very quick and easy scrubby dishcloth. If you haven’t worked with Scrubby Yarn before, this would make a great first project. This easy dishcloth is crocheted with a larger sized hook (7 mm) and uses only simple stitches. The Double Thick Scrubby Dishcloth is crocheted with 2-strands of Scrubby Yarn held together. I chose to use 2 different colors from my Stash but you could just as easily use 2 strands from one ball of yarn. This scrubby dishcloth took me less than 15 minutes to crochet - so I'm sure you will have it done quickly too!
Double thick and super squishy, its small size makes it particularly good at getting into smaller corners and edges. I personally prefer smaller dishcloths for cleaning, they are just easier for my hands to hold onto! Try this pattern and let me know what you think! Maybe you will decide you prefer small dishcloths too! You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern - just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size of your project will also be different.
Washing dishes will be a delight with this crochet scrubby by your side! This intermediate crochet pattern uses nylon netting to scrub away at pots and pans.
From the blogger: It's time to think about unique gift ideas, and homemade gifts are the best! These are my version of crocheted pot scrubbies made from nylon netting. They make fabulous handmade gifts! I plan on adding them to gift bags along with measuring spoons, cooking utensils, pot holders, and a recipe book. The nylon netting can be found at your local fabric store. One half yard of netting per scrubby is more than sufficient. Make something unique!
