The more colors, the merrier and more cheerful! When it's cold and grey outside, it's great to make a sunny blanket, because it will make you feel a bit better. The blankie on the pictures below was made by Potter and Bloom and it's a super bright and cheery project, that will keep your mind off things. What's more, you can make it in no time!

Big Bloom Blanket
The Big Bloom Blanket is cozy, casual, and creates a simple, modern floral afghan with an easy to memorize repeat! And it's a free crochet pattern featuring Caron Simply Soft, on Moogly! The Big Bloom Blanket features a stitch pattern that I used on some holiday patterns in the past - and it's a reader request! However, I've updated it this round, making it even easier to crochet, and adding more texture, with fewer color changes. This makes this pattern a great one to relax with, and gives it a great floral look! While I designed the Big Bloom Blanket to use just 2 skeins each of 3 colors of Caron Simply Soft, this pattern can keep growing as long as you keep crocheting! It's also a great scrapghan pattern - be sure to read the Notes in the pattern for more sizing info!
From the Middle Baby Blanket
This sweet blankie in the pictures below is made using Bernat Blanket yarn and it's so wintry, lofty and incredibly comfy! The colors are so vivid and cheerful. In other words, great for brightening up your home and the gloomy and grey days a bit more sunny.
Samantha's Blankie
- Designed by Ann Saglimbene
This cute, delicate blankie on the pictures below was made by Ann Saglimbene and it has the sweetest hearts in the center of each square. What's more, the edging looks so vintage and rustic! In other words, if you're looking for a classic baby blankie, this one might be the one for you!
Sleepy Blocks Blankie
The Sleepy Blocks Blankie is a cute and cuddly free baby blanket pattern worked up using colorful variegated yarn. The dynamic stitch pattern and bulky yarn result in an extra squishy blanket that is perfect for playtime and newborn photos. Using half double crochet stitches, this pattern results in a tight weave fabric, which reduces the risk of babies getting their little fingers stuck in the yarn. Since this pattern uses a variegated, chunky yarn and a simple 2-row repeat for a quick pattern that will fly right off the hook!
Tried and True Beginner Blanket
I have been teaching beginners (read: novice/first time crocheters) to crochet for a couple of years. My favorite projects are any that include a super bulky yarn and a 15 mm hook. Why? These projects can be started and finished in one class and the beginner can leave with a hat on their head (or a cowl around their neck). I designed this blanket with the true beginner in mind. Maybe you took a class, or a friend taught you the single crochet. You've made a stack of hats, but you want more! This is the project for you. You will learn the four basic stitches and how to work in rows (working in rows is a beginner skill, but I don't like teaching it for a first time crocheter). I have added notes here and there to help guide you and give you an understanding on the basics of pattern-reading. I have also included a full photo tutorial for each stitch to help you along your way.
