How To Crochet A Granny Square
"The granny square is the easiest crochet square out there and should be one of the first things a beginner should learn. It sets the start for more intricate patterns and designs. You can crochet a few rows and stop to form classic granny squares which are joined together, or you can continue with the rounds of clusters to make your granny square as big as you like (and even turn it into a one-piece blanket). How do you crochet a granny square? A granny square is crocheted in the round and it's constructed with clusters of 3 double crochet stitches evenly spaced out to form a square shape. This granny square tutorial was designed for absolute beginners with step by step instructions and a video tutorial for those who learn better from watching how it's done. "

The English Garden Afghan Square is a crochet granny square that features rows of unique stitches and bright, vivid colors. This crochet square would make a perfect accent square in a crochet granny square afghan, and would look great in any color.
From the Designer: "This square is gorgeous! It has a decidedly geometrically organized look, like a formal english garden and the color combinations just speak of the blooms in a garden. Of course you can make it in as many or few colors as you like since the square also has nice texture. Pair it with simple solid squares for a truly elegant throw.

Victorian Romance Square
Practice the popcorn stitch with this quick crochet granny square pattern!
From the blogger:"During my square designing kick, I first made the Native Sun Square, which had great texture. It was followed by the Mingle Square and the Primrose Square, which are equally as beautiful, but lacking the textures. So, I knew I had to make another that just 'popped.' The design of this 6-inch square reminds me of Victorian-era decor. Plus, the pop stitches look like hearts! This square would be great for many projects, but I definitely like it for an afghan."
