This is a great blanket/ afghan. Uses Stylecraft DK and 4 mm hook, but any yarn could be used as a great stash buster. You'll need 10 colours, 9 for the actual squares and 1 for joining them together - my personal rule was no white. Joined using the continuous join method. The order of the colours was released weekly on my blog - to have a blanket in 13 weeks - you could make more squares weekly to make the project quicker.

This beautiful black and white granny square afghan is easy to crochet. It was made for my daughter. I made her a baby afghan many years ago. This will be the second afghan that I made for her. This blanket consists of 5 different black and white designs. Making 4 of each square. When I started making this blanket, there was no end plan in mind. Once I got the hang of crocheting a granny square, I just started pairing the black and white in different styles. I love how they turned out.

You can get the crochet pattern to make your own Starburst/ Sunburst Granny Square Blanket - called the Rainbow Starburst Blanket. This pattern will make a blanket 105cm x 145cm. The Blanket is made using Stylecraft Life DK yarn and a 5mm hook in 13 colours and a joining colour. You'll need 1 ball of each colour, and 5 balls of the joining colour (If Single crocheting tougher, 4 balls if you continuous join) Written in US terms Difficulty is Advanced beginner, you will need to know how to (USA Terms) HDC, DC, TC, 2DC Cluster and 3 DC cluster, Slip stitch to join.

Using different shades of blue, green and orange, you can work up this amazing Colorburst Granny Hexagon; you can choose your own crochet colors as well. The double crochet stitch is going to allow you to make these pretty hexagons. Here's the thing, you can join your hexagons to make a crocheted blanket one of two ways: you can join them once they're all complete or you can join as you go.
