This is a traditional hot pad, honestly, the best ones I have ever used. This is not my design, but a common way to crochet hot pads that my Great Grandmother taught me and I want to share it with you. These are my most requested crochet items from my family! I love to gift them for any occassion, but I like to add a dish scrubby because we always need more. The One Cup at a Time Coaster pattern works up really quick, uses a fun stitch combination and your finished project is useful to have around. The coasters can be added to a gift, it's that handmade touch everyone loves to receive. The pattern uses a sports weight (#2) yarn and a G (4.25 mm) crochet hook. However, if you have a different yarn weight around, go ahead and give that a try as well. You finished coaster may come out bigger, or thicker, but it will still work.

It happened. I was minding my own business… and I saw it. Cat potholders! But the potholders I saw had plastic eyes and a nose and was for decoration only, because, hello, plastic will melt! What?! Who does that?! If I'm making a potholder, you can bet you can actually use it to take a hot pot out of an oven! Or display it if you want. So this potholder is made out of cotton yarn and is double thick to help protect your hands from the heat.
