Created to cover stools 13” in diameter and 1” thick. There is no gauge with this pattern because the size of your stool is subjective. As is the nature of crochet, the covers are very prone to stretching. The cover will look too small at first but with some muscle will stretch to fit tightly. Here is a crochet dog potholder pattern. I used 8 ply wool, which is light worsted in the US. Be careful not to use synthetic wool as it would melt. I used brown, and darker brown for the ears, pink for the tongue and white and black. I used a 2.5mm crochet hook but you could use what you're most comfortable with.
