From the blogger: "This square may be labeled intermediate due to the post stitches, but it's actually pretty easy to crochet! The varying stitch heights create a fun color pattern, while the post stitches give the overall square some texture. Try playing with different colors or even making the whole thing in one color. Just have fun with it. Once you finish the stitches, cut the yarn and weave in all ends. The finished piece after blocking should measure to be a 12” square. Enjoy!

This pattern is for a blanket square in your choice of 2 sizes: 9” or 12”. This versatile pattern can also be used as a wall hanging or as a pillow front. Colors are referred to as A, B, and C. Color changes can be made by fastening off or carrying the yarn. For best results, I recommend washing finished square according to yarn package directions and blocking to the appropriate size. Pretty Posies Square
"The Pretty Posies Afghan Square was designed to work well with my Sweet and Simple Afghan Square Pattern. Both patterns are crocheted with Scheepjes Stone Washed Yarn from the mini skein Colour Pack. When you make these with the Sport Weight Yarn 2 and a 4 mm (G) hook they measure approximately 4 inches square. When you use Medium Weight Yarn and the hook indicated on the yarn label, you can expect a square approximately 6 inches X 6 inches in size. This design begins with the leaves and the flower portion of the project. You can stop after the flower section and you will have a pretty flower embellishment you can use on other projects. I have included step-by-step photo tutorials for all parts of this square. They are available in my blog post with the free copy of the pattern."
Aubrieta Bloom Afghan Square

After playing around with some designs, I worked out this Aubrieta Bloom Afghan Square crochet pattern and I'm really loving it! I really hope you guys love it too! Since the written pattern can be a bit wordy, I also included a stitch diagram of the square for those of you who like to follow along in a more visual way. Enjoy!! Block Stitch Square
Most commonly referred to as the block stitch, but sometimes called the mosaic stitch or dot stitch, this square features little pops of color between rounds of the classic granny stitch. After steam blocking, the finished square measures 6 inches x 6 inches, however, this project can be made larger or turned into an afghan by continuing the pattern repeats. Made in worsted weight yarn in two or more colors; 5.0 mm (H-8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain the gauge yarn needle for weaving in ends.
Tunisian Cross Stitch Afghan Block
"I simply love when you can use a simple crochet stitch and put a twist on it. This creates a beautiful new stitch that looks so much different by just changing a small thing. That is exactly what the Tunisian crochet cross stitch is. Simply put, you work two Tunisian simple stitches but crossed over. It is a super simple technique suitable for beginners. I have used this beautifully textured stitch for a simple afghan block. It would look lovely as part of a Tunisian stitch sampler blanket or cushion cover. You can also make this square with a 100% cotton yarn and use it as a washcloth or a facecloth."
