Block Stitch Square

Most commonly referred to as the block stitch, but sometimes called the mosaic stitch or dot stitch, this square features little pops of color between rounds of the classic granny stitch. After steam blocking, the finished square measures 6 inches x 6 inches, however, this project can be made larger or turned into an afghan by continuing the pattern repeats. Made in worsted weight yarn in two or more colors; 5.0 mm (H-8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain the gauge yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Crochet Snowman Granny Squares Blanket

A couple of years ago I made the Snowman Granny Square. And updated the pattern this year (2016) with my newest blanket pattern I made using these squares together. These smiling snowy faces can stay looking at each other in this Christmas all the time! Attaching these Snowman Granny Squares together, you can make any size blanket or afghan. It means this is a free size pattern. And also Snowman Granny Square Blanket can be worked with your favorite yarn weight. I used sport weight and made 20 squares. These all squares I joined with Join As You Go (JAYGo) method.

Crossed Afghan Square

From the blogger: "This square may be labeled intermediate due to the post stitches, but it's actually pretty easy to crochet! The varying stitch heights create a fun color pattern, while the post stitches give the overall square some texture. Try playing with different colors or even making the whole thing in one color. Just have fun with it. Once you finish the stitches, cut the yarn and weave in all ends. The finished piece after blocking should measure to be a 12” square. Enjoy!

Magic Granny Square

From time to time, I sit down between large projects experimenting new small crochet pieces, such as coasters and granny squares. Sometimes nothing interesting comes out. But I think this time it really turned out well. A magic granny square that turned from circle to almost square without the usual angles made of number of chain stitches. Materials Yarn: Alize cotton baby soft, 50% cotton, 50% acrylic, 100 g. / 270 mt. (3.53 0z. /295 yds), four skeins of color winter sky 514, two skeins of color light yellow 643. Hook: 5 mm, US. Sugar Sand Afghan Block

"This easy crochet afghan block uses a simple crochet texture stitch to create the effect of little seashells nestled in the sugar sand of my favorite beach. Perfect for adding just a bit of texture to an afghan! You can use this block on its own, or combine it with other blocks for a fun quilted look. You'll need less than a skein of worsted weight yarn for this pattern. It creates a beautifully textured 12" crochet afghan block, perfect for making crocheted afghans of any size, and in any color."
