So, if you haven’t guessed, I decided to use the Ava yarn from Classic Elite Yarns. It's a beautiful metallic silver yarn; a blend of viscose, wool and polyester. Right off the bat, I had a vision for this particular yarn. And that's how the Simple Shells Light Wrap came into being. This wrap is really delicate and simple to make. It uses the shell stitch which, paired with the subtle metallic yarn, adds a beautiful textural wave to the wrap. It's a lightweight wrap to take on vacations with you or for mild weather. It can also be worn in a variety of ways, so it would be a beautiful holiday gift.

When I began designing the Scarfie Bandana Cowl, I only had intentions on making it in adult sizes until I received a request for child sizes as well. She said she really wanted to make a mommy and me set so that's when I decided to add in the toddler and child sizes. I had been dying to use one of Lion Brand Scarfie’s latest colorways, Mint/Silver, ever since it came out so I grabbed the yarn, grabbed my hook and off I went to swatch. As I was swatching I fell more and more in love with this self-striping yarn and knew it was the perfect yarn to bring my vision to life. The Bat Wing Shawl was designed with the declining number of bats in North America in mind. About six million bats have died from a fungus, which is one of the worst animal population declines in the last hundred years. Bats are majestic creatures that have inspired many cultural phenomena like Batman, Dracula, and the children's classic book Stellaluna. They deserve our support as a species, so what better way than to commemorate them with a crochet pattern?

This feeling flirty lacy shell shawl is so light and delicate. Work this crochet pattern from the bottom up. Start with one shell and continue adding a shell to each side as you work up. Since this is made from a yarn cake that has beautiful, variegated colors throughout, there were just two yarn ends to weave in at the end. This lacy shell stitch is achieved by repeating two rows throughout this pattern. One row consists of chain and single crochet stitches. The next row is where the shell is made by working a double crochet in the same stitch five times. I have included photos of the first few rows to help with understanding the pattern. Additionally, there are video tutorials for both left and right hand crocheters. Lastly, there is a chart detailing the row being worked and number of shell stitches per row.

I just released the V stitch Butterfly Shawl, and now I'm starting on my second yarn cake! I'm trying my hand at another Butterfly-style shawl. Something funny happened when I was crocheting it. When I showed my husband the design, he said it looked more like a bat. Then my daughter said it's a Bat-terfly shawl! So this shawl got its name before it got very big! As you can see in the picture, it does look like a bat or moth! But Moth-erfly didn't sound as good LOL.
