Light up your home decor with this ray of sunshine doily that can be used as a gigantic coaster for hot pots and pans or simply as a lovely wall hanging. This is an intermediate-level design.
Whimsical Pumpkin Coaster
How to crochet a whimsical pumpkin coaster that is perfect for Fall decorating or on the Thanksgiving table under some Pumpkin Spice coffee. You'll need 20 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn per coaster - I used WeCrochet Dishie for mine, but Lily Sugar n Cream, Bernat Handicrafter and Red Heart Smoothie are good alternatives. If you are only making a coaster that will house a cold or hot beverage, you can use acrylic as an alternative (like Red Heart Super Saver) with an I9/5.5mm hook - just do not put anything fresh from the oven on the acrylic coaster, or you will melt the fibers and risk burning yourself. I was able to work up one coaster in just over 15 minutes.
Sunny Day Coaster
Create these cute Sunny Day crochet coasters! The coaster works in the round and has a delightful shell boarder resembling the sun. Very cute for Summer! This project uses a size H crochet hook and 100% cotton yarn (I used Peaches and Creme in Sunshine. 1, 2.5 oz. skein makes 5 coasters. The finished coaster measures 5 X 5. Materials King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn (100% cotton, 3.5 oz/100 g, 229 yd/210 m) - 1 skein in 3461 Antique Gold, or approximately 120 yd (110 m) in any light weight cotton yarn for a set of 4 coasters. PLEASE NOTE: Each coaster uses approximately 30 yd (27.5 m) in light weight cotton yarn; each skein makes 7-9 coasters. HenPeckedHooks US Size G-6/4 mm crochet hook, or any size needed to obtain gauge. Clover Quick Locking Stitch Marker Set. Yarn needle. Gauge Through Rnd 11 = 4.5” (11.5 cm) diameter in pattern. Exact gauge is not critical for this project.
