"If you haven't heard of a bonding square, they are used for babies in the NICU. Mom is given 2 squares - mom wears one against her body and then every 12 hours or so she swaps them out. The smell will help baby bond to mom when they can't physically touch each other yet.Many hospitals are using them to help mom and her new baby to bond while apart. Now, with this bonding square crochet pattern, you can make pairs of them (1 for mom to wear, 1 for baby). The pattern is great for beginners and can be made more elaborate by adding stripes, ribbon and flowers. Sizes are included for Newborn to 6-12 Months. Newborn size is recommended just for preemies and for brand-new babies (ei: going home from the hospital). The newborn size will not fit a healthy baby for very long!
Crochet Octopus
Crochet an adorable Crochet Octopus for a Preemie, an older child or even for yourself! Backstory: I read an article about how infants in the intensive care unit find comfort wrapping their fingers into the curly tentacles of a crochet octopus. It reminds them of the umbilical cord in their mother's womb! I loved this but was not a fan of the crochet octopus I found in the story, so I designed my own!
