I have been teaching beginners (read: novice/first time crocheters) to crochet for a couple of years. My favorite projects are any that include a super bulky yarn and a 15 mm hook. Why? These projects can be started and finished in one class and the beginner can leave with a hat on their head (or a cowl around their neck). I designed this blanket with the true beginner in mind. This stitch is made up of double crochets and single crochets worked up in a pattern. The Crochet shell stitch looks complicated, but its just a repeat of two rows and you end up with a beautiful crochet blanket. I have used variegated yarn for the blanket. I love how the color changes and you don't have to weave off the yarn ends in case of using different color yarn at end of every row. Marvelous Mermaid Tail Blanket
This week on the blog there has been a Fishing Net Blanket and a Mermaid Baby blanket, so let's keep that theme going with now a Marvelous Mermaid Tail Blanket. The Mermaid Blanket is designed for older children (about 3-12 years). This blanket is fun to make and bulky projects are quick projects too. Do you know of a little girl who would love to be a mermaid and can do that while being comfortable snuggled up reading a book or watching tv? The Mermaid Blanket uses basic crochet stitches to make this design.
Ansh Tunisian Sampler Blanket
This blanket was designed primarily for teaching the basics of Tunisian crochet. The squares are in order of complexity and start with Beginner level stitches leading into Advanced Beginner techniques towards the end. The aim is for people of any skill level to join and (hopefully) learn something new and have a finished product to showcase at the end! The sizes of the squares might vary a little and that is okay. The joining technique used to join the squares will mask the difference.

Single Crochet Border For Blankets With Dc Rows
