When Mikey crocheted the Beachy Keen Cover Up, I thought it would be fun to crochet a matching tote bag. I used the same Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn in Aqua. My finished bag measures 12″ x 12″, not including the handles. I used 150 grams of the 250 gram ball, so there is plenty of extra if you'd like to make your tote bag bigger. If you are interested in a wider bag, then start with a longer chain keeping it odd, for an even number of beginning single crochets. If you would like a taller bag, then work more pattern rounds.

Asbury Crochet Tote
"This is an original crochet tote pattern designed by Croyden Crochet. All my patterns are written in English using American crochet terms. Basic crochet skills and stitches are required for this pattern. The Asbury tote pattern uses Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn. Grommets are used in the pattern but are optional. Twisted cord is used for the handles of the tote. This pattern is crocheted in the round and is considered beginner friendly. Tote dimension are 15 1/2" (L) x 14" (H) x 4" (W)"
Granny Hex Tote
"The Granny Hex Tote is traditional and modern, and so quick and fun to make! With your favorite handles and just one skein of Caron Colorama O’Go, you can make your own fun hexie handbag with this free crochet pattern on Moogly! I love the size of the Granny Hex Tote and I hope you do too. Not too small, not too big, with handles just long enough to fit over my shoulder - so hard to find in shops! If you like longer or shorter handles, feel free to adjust the length to suit you. Just be sure that if you're going a lot longer that you have a bit of extra yarn on hand."
Tricolor Tote
"The Tricolor Tote has so many fun details - changing stitch patterns, fun tassels, braided handles - but its soft color palette and orderly structure bring balance to this fast and fun (and free!) crochet pattern! The Tricolor Tote was designed using Lion Brand Fast-Track, which is a really fun and unique yarn! Soft cotton/poly blend in a tape-like shape, it's like crocheting with your favorite t-shirts. And I love the look it gives projects! This tote is also another pattern on my never-ending search for the ideal bag handles. I've tried many different methods over the years, but I think this is the first time I've tried braids! This yarn lends itself really well to these braided handles, with only a tiny bit of stretch, lots of strength, and some great color play that ends in tassels! If this handle style isn’t to your taste, you can always add pre-purchased handles, or crochet your own using the linked tutorial!"
My Go To Bag
Straps 26 inches long and 2 inches wide Bag 17 inches long by 15 inches wide when measured on a flat surface Handle Drop 14 inches My Go To Bag is my practical, everyday crocheted bag. I wanted a bag I could use for everything - from beach bag to book bag - a single crocheted base gives this bag extra support - the first few rounds are crocheted in double crochet and then the main bag is worked up in an easy to work granny stitch stripe pattern. I chose to make my straps slightly wider than most bags because when you fill the bag and the straps stretch, they will remain comfortable on your shoulders. If you would like to have a narrower strap, it is very easy to change the width of the strap. Simply add one extra decrease repeat of: Sc2tog, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc2tog. Ch 1, turn. 4 in place of R11 of the straps and for R80 work: 2 sc in the first st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the last st, ch 1, turn. 6. Have fun making this simple, attractive and practical Go To Bag! You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern - just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size of your project will also be different.
