Striped Hourglass Square

"The Striped Hourglass Square is a great addition to the Moogly Crochet Along - or any squares-based project! Play with color and texture in this free crochet pattern on Moogly! I designed this square using Red Heart With Love, because it's the official yarn of the MooglyCAL2021. And the reason it's the official yarn is that it comes in tons of colors. But even more importantly, it's super easy to care for and family (and pet) friendly - and therefore great for gifting too! I recently designed the Striped Hourglass Area Rug, and had a lot of fun playing with the color changes to get a bold rainbow look. Wave stitches can be fun to crochet, you just have to develop a rhythm of sorts to keep track of which stitch you're using. The upside is if you use the wrong stitch, it will quickly become very obvious when your waves don't line up! For the Diagonal Ripple Lapghan, I modified the Diagonal Chevrons Lapghan pattern to create a different chevron or ripple look. Many crocheters love working the classic crochet ripple pattern in BLO to create a neat ridge effect so I gave it a whirl when working on the bias.
