One of the great things I love about crochet is taking an older stitch or technique and putting my own spin on it and that's exactly what I've done here with my ‘Get in Line, Granny! Afghan’. I've taken a typical granny square pattern and added one of my favorite stitches to it to create a new look. Check out the photos in the listing to see both sides of the afghan and decide which is your favorite!
Hi everyone! It's an every year contribution I've been doing, to come up with a granny square that has the face of the current year's Chinese zodiac animal. So far I've made the chicken, the dog, the rat, and now the ox. And I've also enjoyed making other animal granny squares, such as the cat and the frog, and have a few in the making (a rabbit and other animals) that I'm going to post in the future. The only hard part for me when designing these granny squares is to show as many face traits as possible, while keeping the square easy to make. I think I've nailed it this time. So enjoy making this cute ox as a granny square unit for a baby blanket perhaps, plus, you can totally change the colors to make it look like a cow. Stay safe and healthy, and happy (belated) Chinese new year!

The Granny Square Kid’s picnic blanket is just the pattern to create a cute, snuggly blanket that you can use so many ways. Toss it over the back of an armchair for decorative purposes, bring it out for a picnic, or, like the name says - give it to your kids. You make this pattern by working in squares, which makes it a fun project to take with you on the go. You don't have to carry the whole blanket with you, but can carry it in squares until you're ready to work all the squares together into the finished project.

Granny squares are very easy to learn, so this is a great pattern for a beginner. It starts with a basic granny square and just keeps adding round after round. You can choose any color combination and can make your square as big as you like. I chain 2 at each corner, instead of chaining one to prevent rounded corners. I also turn with each round to prevent my square from leaning. Includes written instructions and video tutorial. I did include approximate numbers of rounds below for an average sized baby blanked, lapghan, and small afghan
