Market Tote Bag Pattern

You'll never forget to bring your reusable bag to the grocery store ever again when you make this market tote bag. You'll be looking for more reasons to use this bag than just for carrying groceries when you finish it and realize how cute it is. Put your single crochet stitch to work to make the body of this crochet purse, and to make the strap, too. This bag is simple and easy to make, and looks great. You get to choose three of your favorite colors to complement each other or coordinate the bag to match the color you wear most often. Or get bold and pick a single color that pops.

Mercato Crossbody Tote

The Mercato Crossbody Tote is ideal for traveling, a day at the mercato {market}, or a playdate at the park. It's comfortable, and stays out of the way, but is where you need it. Market totes are such great summer makes. I gifted this one to my son’s teacher, and she loved it. It's fast, easy and doesn't take much yarn-perfect for gifts. I've crocheted a bunch of these this year and gifted all of them. I definitely should make a few for myself. I always need a nice shopper ready to go in the car, or another bag to hold yarn!

Knotted Rainbow Tote Bag

I love crocheting tote bags - they are super handy, fun to crochet, and make great gifts! And I had a lot of fun playing with the colors and stitches in the Knotted Rainbow Tote Bag - a free crochet tote bag pattern here on Moogly! The "knotted" part of this rainbow is the handles! They are quick and easy to crochet (because we all know when you get to the handles, you're eager to finish the project), and because of the way they are added to the bag, they are very easy to replace if they get dirty or damaged.

Easy Crochet Tote

Tote bags like this are great to have because of their size. The roomy interior of this Easy Crochet Tote will fit much more than the daily essentials. You can literally fit anything you want inside this tote including a laptop and a skein of yarn. The striped pattern of this classic carryall makes this a versatile pattern to complete because you can use any two colors of yarn that you prefer. It measures about 13 inches wide and 11 inches tall when complete.

Beachy Keen Tote Bag

When Mikey crocheted the Beachy Keen Cover Up, I thought it would be fun to crochet a matching tote bag. I used the same Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn in Aqua. My finished bag measures 12″ x 12″, not including the handles. I used 150 grams of the 250 gram ball, so there is plenty of extra if you'd like to make your tote bag bigger. If you are interested in a wider bag, then start with a longer chain keeping it odd, for an even number of beginning single crochets. If you would like a taller bag, then work more pattern rounds.

Give Me Variety Tote Bag

The crochet pattern for this bag was created specifically with variegated yarn in mind. Yarns that have a quick-changing color can be tricky to work with, as they steal the show and diminish stitch definition. Sometimes (a lot of the time), simple really is best. You'll only need 1 skein of solid color worsted weight yarn for the bottom and top, and one variegated for the body. Two solid colors (or more) would look great too! I used Loops and Threads Impeccable, that created the best "spiraling" effect with this crochet bag. Red Heart Soft looked pretty too, but in a different way, sort of speckled.
