So, our first griddle stitch project is a handbag, or rather a tote. Overall, this is a classic flat-sided tote with “rope” handles. However, the griddle surface really gives it its own flair.

The first essentials tote bag we have is the star stitch tote. Indeed, this is a project on the fancier side of this category. In particular, the reinforced edge, bottom and handles are a very good feature.
"I just love crochet patterns that look more complex then they are. That is definitely the case with the square bottom crochet tote bag. This bag starts with a simple solid granny square then in just a few rows of decreases you have a bag that is perfect for on the go. Do you ever have to dump out your entire purse to find your keys? This crochet tote will never hide your keys from you. You just lay the bag on a flat surface and it opens up nice and wide. Shuffle things around just a bit and you will be able to find anything you are looking for. "
"This spectacular mandala motif is transformed into a simple tote bag with the addition of perfectly placed tabs along the sides and bottom of the two motifs. The textured strap is worked right into the side of the bag. Optional lining instructions are included, too. This motif would also make an exquisite joined motif afghan. "The Boho crochet tote bag is a perfect bag to accompany you whatever the season. It is crocheted in once, its particularity is its pattern with bohemian accents made with a chevron stitches pattern, very simple to make. I used only one Spring rainbow ball from Katia yarns. The boho bag is useful to go shopping, carry your laptop while you are travelling, and is also a good farme's market companion. The handles are large enough to be carried on the shoulder or by hand. "

"The Granny Hex Tote is traditional and modern, and so quick and fun to make! With your favorite handles and just one skein of Caron Colorama O'Go, you can make your own fun hexie handbag with this free crochet pattern on Moogly! I love the size of the Granny Hex Tote and I hope you do too. Not too small, not too big, with handles just long enough to fit over my shoulder - so hard to find in shops! If you like longer or shorter handles, feel free to adjust the length to suit you. Just be sure that if you're going a lot longer that you have a bit of extra yarn on hand."
