Crochet Bags
This bag is so much fun to make! Great for leftover yarn you don't know what to do with! This pattern uses a simple heart chart and single crochets to make fun and colorful heart squares that are single crocheted together to form the body of the bag. The handles are then added to create this fun happy tote! If you have never worked with charts before, this is a great, easy chart to get started on. This pattern uses a hook size G and 100% cotton yarn, I used Lilys Sugar N’ Cream. This bag can also be made with medium worsted weight yarn. The bag measures 15″ X 15″ with a 8.5″ strap drop. Each heart square is 5″ X 5″.

"This tote bag is comprised up of floral afghan squares that were inspired by Hydrangeas, and also features a beautiful ribbed pattern. As far as the lining goes, in the past, I have crocheted other tote bags that I chose not to line, and I ended up really disappointed with how much they stretched out, so I made sure with this one that I added a lining to the bag itself, and the strap. I highly recommend if you will be carrying around anything with a little weight. I used Red Heart Super Saver, which is a pretty durable yarn, however, I think a cotton yarn such as Lily Sugar n Cream would have been a better option for something that will keep a lot of use, and dragged around from one place to another. The cotton option will also make the bag a little larger."

This bag is just so fun, retro and chic! Perfect hand bag with a cross body chevron strap. With just a small section of tapestry crochet worked in just 2 colors, this would make a great introduction to this fabulous color technique! Full color graph is provided for the tapestry crochet section of the bag as well. At approximately 8” tall (excluding strap) x 13” wide, this bag is the perfect everyday go-to size. Line and add a zipper, if desired. Optional d-rings are crocheted directly to the bag for ease of construction and then strap is sewn to d-rings at the end. Strap is a retro chevron design to mimic the diamond design element of the bag. As written, strap is approximately 37” long once sewn to bag allowing the bag to be worn cross-body. Create this gorgeous puff tote bag! This bag works up quickly and uses 7, 2.5 oz of 100% cotton yarn. I used Lily Sugar’n Cream yarn in 7 colors. Each skein will be enough to complete each color sequence on both sides with a little bit left over. You will crochet directly into the zipper for this project (this part is super easy!). Just poke into the zipper with an awl or sharp thicker needle and insert your crochet hook in the hole and crochet as usual. You will work both sides then sc pieces together with an outter seam. The finished bag measures 21″ wide and 14″ tall. You can add a lining if you plan on using the bag for smaller items, for larger items the bag will be fine as is. Enjoy the free pattern!
