Moon Shadow Blanket

A cosy night in isn't complete unless you're snuggled under a big, soft blanket! This simple, modern blanket is crocheted using one simple stitch - the herringbone double crochet. When this stitch is repeated it gives a beautiful woven-look to the fabric. The project uses a chunky yarn that stitches up quickly without creating a blanket that is too heavy or bulky. The yarn chosen for this project is inexpensive and a classic, good quality acrylic / wool mix. Perfect for beginners or if you are looking for an easy and modern project.

Gentle River Ripple Blanket

This gentle river ripple blanket uses bold colors to show off the popular chevron pattern. It has a timeless appeal to home decor. This is my second chevron blanket that I have ever made. The soft peaks and valleys in this chevron throw remind me of gentle ripples on the water in the moonlight. I was going for a gentle wavy effect and after playing around with the stitches for a bit, the look just came together. Generally, the chevron or zig zag look is achieved by increasing and decreasing stitches at regular intervals throughout a row of stitches. This color pattern is repeated 6 times. To make this blanket symmetrical, I added four more rows of the Cape Cod Blue yarn to the end. Blanket is a total of 64 rows.

Iris Stitch In A Square

The Iris stitch is another one of my favorite stitches. It has a flower-like look, it creates a “Holey” fabric and still has more of a modern look. It's a great stitch to use in blankets or as a border. The stitch consists of dc's and chain which makes it very easy and is what makes it also works up really fast, which is a bonus! When you work a blanket from the middle out, it gives you more freedom to decide the blanket's size as you go."

This baby blanket is on the lighter side making it a great blanket for throughout the year. Use an acrylic yarn for the winter and for the summer use a light cotton yarn to protect the little ones without overheating them. The stitch pattern used is called the blossom stitch, which is easy and mindless to work with once you get past the first few rows. Crochet this in one color as shown or use up your stash to work in pretty colors for both boys and girls."
