Striped Baby Blanket

Afghans and Blankets

"Crochet a modern striped baby blanket using two strands of worsted weight yarn. This free crochet blanket pattern is perfect for beginners because it uses only double crochet stitches. The striped blanket works up quickly and is a little bit squishy, thanks to the double strands of yarn. I used a 10 mm crochet hook and about 720 yards each of Lion Brand Pound of Love "Denim" and "Oxford Grey." You could add tassels or a border to personalize the blanket. "

The Denim and Ivory Lapghan measures 46'W x 48'H. It would make a great wheelchair afghan, a blanket for when you're curled up on the couch or recliner. It would also make a beautiful baby or toddler blanket. You can customize it to any size. All you need to do is have a starting chain with a multiple of 4 - 2. This stitch pattern would make a gorgeous bedspread too! Not only that, the only stitches you need to know are single crochet and double crochet. It's an easy five row repeat that you can quickly memorize.

HBC Grey-Scale Inspired Blanket

Afghans and Blankets

The Hudson's Bay Company was founded in Canada in the 1600's and still endures today. With its iconic colours (and its more modern, turn of the new millennium, grey-scale) it's "stripe spotting" branding is known worldwide. For my blanket I opted to use the grey-scale as it fits nicely with the colour scheme I plan to use in my little boys room. The pattern would also look wonderful in the vintage HBC colours! Give it a go!!! If you make one please share a picture; I would love to see it!

This stitch is made up of double crochets and single crochets worked up in a pattern. The Crochet shell stitch looks complicated, but its just a repeat of two rows and you end up with a beautiful crochet blanket. I have used variegated yarn for the blanket. I love how the color changes and you don't have to weave off the yarn ends in case of using different color yarn at end of every row.
