Trying out my hand at designing a crochet Asymmetrical shawl. I've made several Butterfly Shawls designs and wanted to try something new. I really like the way you can wear these Asymmetrical shawls, it's reminds me something between a cowl and a regular shawl the way I've seen it worn. I found the perfect stitch that looks great from both sides. Me and my husband actually like the way the back of the stitch looks better than the front side of the stitch. This dancing baubles rectangular shawl poncho is an easy rectangular crochet pattern that is worked up in a lightweight yarn. It is perfect for the summer and transitional weather too. When sat there working the Boux rectangle shawl up which you can find here, i came up with the idea of doing an asymmetrical shawl using the same stitch pattern. Now i will be very honest, in the past when designing an asymmetrical shawl i always used the filet crochet method and i had never designed a shawl with an actual stitch pattern so it took a little more working out than normal (but not as much as the one that i am currently working on, new pattern coming soon YAY!) but the Boux asymmetrical shawl turned out just how i wanted it and it is actually one of my most personal favorites to date, i think because there was a sense of achievement in something i had never done before.

This Any Season Shawl is an easy asymmetrical crochet shawlette made from just one skein of yarn. If you are looking for a shawl in a ball pattern, here is one to add to your crochet pattern library. Today I used one skein of Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball Restful Rainbow. This pattern starts off with an initial 12 rows of crochet. After that, rows 9-12 are repeated until the desired length and width is reached or the skein of yarn is gone. This is an asymmetrical shawl; therefore, the increase is only done on one side of the shawl. Couple the beautiful skein of yarn with an easy crochet pattern. The rainbow of colors in this shawl make it the perfect accessory for any number of fashion styles. It is great worn with weekend wear, going out to dinner with family and friends, and work.

"This shawl is worked sideways from end-to-end. It starts off at the tip on one side and gradually grows by 1 stitch with each row until the widest section, which is in the middle. Then each row decreases by 1 stitch until you reach the tip on the other side. When first starting out this shawl, I was thinking of using just three of the colors. They look lovely together; however, as I was nearing the end of the length of the shawl on the decreasing side, I decided to use all four colors. The darker cypress color really helps add depth and makes the clay color pop. "
